Attention Seniors!

Are you planning on going to college? Is there a chance you might want to apply for FAFSA? Well if you are The Free Application for Federal Student Aid has been open since October 1, 2019 and will be open until June 30, 2020. The sooner you apply and get your application filled out the better. Don’t wait last minute save yourself the headache! It’s a very important application and it’s important that students and parents understand the process. There will be some information listed in this article that will inform you more about FASFA and the basic things there is to know. For further In depth questions feel free to visit your counselor, the career center, and/or the website https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa.

What is FASFA?

FASFA also known as, Free Application Student Federal Aid, is an application that creates a way for students who plan on attending college to receive money for their schooling. FASFA will determine how much aid a student can receive depending on their family’s income and the cost of attendance that particular school has. Don’t sleep on the opportunity to get free money you can qualify for either tuition, books, etc. 

How do I apply?

You can apply on the website listed below https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa . Be sure it is a website that ends in .GOV the questions on the original website will ask personal questions and for the safety and protection of your personal information be sure it is a trusted site. As soon as you click the website you can create a login and password. You can complete your application as soon as you have an account it could take around 30mins-1 hour to complete the application. Your parents will as well need to create an account & this is for a confirmation. 

Warnings!

  • If you leave any questions blank it might not let you complete the application 
  • You will need to put in your social security number so be sure the website is a trusted site
  • Be sure not to lose your username and password. If so remember your security questions and answers
  • Be sure to complete the application and not let it sit unfinished for too long before you forget about it

This wraps up the important things to know about FASFA as of right now you are able to apply but just remember June 30, 2020 will be the deadline.  Don’t put it off and start now so you don’t forget.
