Female Athlete of the Month

Michael Noll, Contributer

Bailey Gualco has been selected as the athlete of the month.  She is a sophomore on the girls varsity soccer team that was ranked number one in the state a few weeks ago.

She is a very skilled player and has 7 goals and 1 assist in only 8 games.  That is really great for soccer, not many players are able to do this.

Gualco said, “We are working really well together and are currently Nationally ranked.  We are on a winning streak right now, we are 8-0, if we continue to work hard and together we will get back to number one.”

Their rank went down a little because there other teams that have played one or two more games then them, but as the number of games played evens out towards the end of the season they will be back on top at number 1.

Gualco said, “My brother played soccer in highschool and he did amazing, and my sister actually, they both did, so I just grew up in soccer with a soccer household and a soccer family it really influenced me heavily.”

She has been playing since she was 4 years old witch would mean she has played for 11 almost 12 years.

Gualco said, “I’m excited to finish the season and I love the team I’m playing with and I can’t wait to see what happens!  The coaching is amazing, I feel like I have an amazing coach he’s so supportive and he just wants the best for all of us.”

She has been playing on Tracy Highs varsity soccer team since freshmen year, which is very hard to do and such a great accomplishment.

Gualco said, “I got pulled up after 3 games on JV and put at forward, but this season I am playing a different position, target forward.”

This means that she gets to take a lot of shots on goal, and they are mostly from the top of the box.

Gualco said, “I was the first yellow card of the season, apparently I smacked someone, I don’t think I did.”

Bailey Gualco is an outstanding athlete that has benefited the team greatly with all of her talents.  Come out and watch her play, you won’t regret it. The next home soccer game is January 28th at 7:00 p.m. against tokay.
