The results of the past few meets give a strong indication that several members of the varsity cross country team will go on to sections.

The varsity boys took second place, beating Chavez. The varsity girls beat both Lincoln and Chavez. The top girls for this race were Ellie Fisher and Kaitlin Spencer.

“It feels good to be one of the top varsity cross country girls, especially since it’s not my main sport, but I always try to do my best,” senior Ellie Fisher said.

Tracy had its next meet on Oct. 24. This was a league meet where all league teams competed against each other at the Lodi Lake course.

Tracy High came in third out of six teams. Three of the varsity boys made top ten. The three boys were Chris Garcia, Alfonzo Gonzales, and Evan Savage. Ellie Fisher and Kaitlin spencer were in the top seven which means they were in all league.

“After the performances at league I can see a select few going to state,” coach Hermann said “I think we have been having a really good season so far. I am very proud of the varsity girls for beating every team except for one this season.”

The sub-section meet will take place at the Frogtown course in Angel’s Camp on Nov.2. Both girls and boys varsity have high hopes for the upcoming meet.

“I feel pretty confident that the varsity girls will do really well in our sub-section races, but it’ll be a little different than our other races because there are so many teams that we are running against,” Fisher said.

Even though the varsity boys haven’t been doing well, they haven’t given up. They still hope to do well in sub-sections.

“Coach Hermann has not let us skip any practices in order for us to train for sub-sections. I feel that Lincoln will be our biggest competitor this race,” junior Blake Lazar said.

“I’m not nervous for league since I have run the course before. The varsity boys should do better since the course is fairly easy,” senior Dennis Nguyen said “I believe that practices have helped us not only with stamina and speed but also with our pacing.”

If the varsity girls or boys make it past sub-sections then they will go on to sections and then the state meet.
