Tracy High’s Associated Student Body (ASB) council has a whole new set of goals in mind for this upcoming school year. From planning numerous events, and wanting to get more students involved, ASB works hard throughout the year to raise school spirit and make it a year to remember.

Tracy is having the grand opening of their new Wayne Schneider Stadium, along with a re-dedication ceremony.

“ASB is planning the stadium opening game, so we are working very hard to make sure it goes great,” ASB President Devra Asah said. “Since it’s our new stadium and first game we are planning for it to be big, entertaining, and fun.”

According to Asah, ASB has many exciting plans for the school year.

“Some goals that we have this year are to get students pumped for games and to be involved,” ASB Secretary Gianna Violante said. “We want to connect with different students to unite the school together.”

Joining sports teams, clubs, or even going to the school events keep students involved.

“We always focus on how to get ‘the invisible kid’ that isn’t really involved, at least involved in something.” Activities Director Alayna Carter said.

Carter hopes to keep up with the current media, such as social networks in leadership.

“We knew we had to keep up with the times.” Carter said.

With school mascot Brutus Bulldog, getting involved in social networks such as Instagram and Twitter, it makes it easier to connect with the students and let them know what is going on.

“We are definitely trying to get more of our campus involved with our activities, that seems to be our main goal.” Asah said.

Dealing with dances, clubs, and football games, the ASB members also find time to help students individually.

“Everyone has a purpose and being involved and connecting helps make you who you are,” Violante said.

Changing things up a bit, ASB also plans to get more involved with new things.

“This year we are focusing a lot of our attention on the Special Education program, and doing a lot more activities with them,” Asah said. “Every Friday our inclusion commissioner Alex Trovao does a special activity with them, so it’s like their noontime event.”

Despite having to keep their grades up, work on activities in Leadership, and getting a job, the ASB officers continue to work hard to keep the school spirit high and give us opportunities to be a part of.

“I have the best ASB officers and I know they will have my back and support and help me.” Asah said.
