The Weeknd is his stage name, but his real name is Abel Tesfaye. The album contains 13 songs. A few songs in this album are “As you are”, “Prisoner”, and “Dark Times”. They are all amazing songs and have  sensational lyrics. He is from Scarborough, Ontario, and is 25 years old.

One of his top songs is “Earned It” because of how much people can relate to his words. He describes how he feels a girl has “earned it”. She shows that she does “earned it” by getting out of her way, by making a call unexpected, and how he appreciates all that she has done. He delivers the message by explaining he will care for her. He shows he cares for her by saying that no matter what happens it will all work out. This song was also in the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey”.

These words from the song “The Hills” basically describes how he lives. He has been known for a while, but now he’s someone everyone knows of. All three of the top Billboard Hot R&B songs belonged to Tesfaye which is something no artist has achieved before. He truly loves what he does and has a passion for it and you can see it. He was a stoned, high school dropout, but has proved that hard work has paid off by coming a long way.

The meaning of another top song choice, “Can’t Feel My Face” can be interpreted in many ways. The song is about a couple in love, but something happened that caused a numb feeling or a heart break. This was his fourth single from the new album. I love this song because it’s a pop song and most of his songs aren’t.

My top favorite song is “The Hills” because of the way he sings his message with both love and hate. He shows how he really feels and the truth about himself. Tesfaye explained what he loves to do and how he doesn’t care what other people think. “Hide your lies, who are you to trust, who are you?” Tesfaye said. These words just show his personality, and how he does what he wants. I feel whether you are with him or not, nothing is going to stop him.

The Weeknd is a strong and truly powerful artist. The spelling of his name was modified to avoid issues with a Canadian band already named The Weekend. I think he will succeed and go far. He will touch many people with this album and catch the teenage hearts with his new songs. The songs all have a different messages, but all combine to one to make the album what it is. Be aware that this album  does contain profanity, sexual, and drug references.
