The band Bring Me the Horizon, also known as BMTH, is considered alternative metal, pop rock, electronic rock, alternative rock and so on. The new album That’s The Spirit, features many great songs.

The first song “Throne” focuses on the positive outlook in life. This song helps many people with insecurities and some that have problems. The song sounds like electronic rock. It makes you want to get on your feet and dance. The most important lyrics are, “The sticks and the stones that you used to throw have built me an empire, so don’t even try to cry me a river”. It means don’t come back to me for help or to get back together because I wont take it anymore. There are more songs on the album such as “Run”, “Oh No”, “Blasphemy”, “what You Need”, “Avalanche”, “Doomed”, and “Follow You”.

The next song is “Happy Song”. This song has more melody and production than a heavy metal core and breakdowns of previous BMTH music. This is also the second track in the album. “Happy Song” was confusing at the beginning because I didn’t understand why the intro was a cheer, but after I went over it again, I understood why they put it as the intro.

The song “Drown” is based in a room that is to be similar to The Beatles performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. This song is about the expectations in life that can grow too much more and about someone that could take that weight off your shoulders and help you get back up. When I first listened to this song I thought that it could help me or others through the day. The lyric that could help is, “what doesn’t destroy you leaves you broken instead got a hole in my soul growing deeper and deeper. Last, but not least, “True Friends” is the fourth track on the album. This song is about a previous relationship which Oliver Sykes, the lead singer, was betrayed by his “lover”.

The songs have profanity, but if you like songs with a good meaning or a good rhythm, you would like the album. The type of songs they produce is a little fast, but not too fast to where you can’t understand them. if you have listened to BMTH music, you would be a little upset with the album because it’s not like they used to be.
