Tracy’s boys’ water polo team is pushing to the end of the season. The new league transition from SJAA to TCAL has been a challenge for the boys. The most recent home game against St. Mary’s on Oct. 21 was a tough game, with St. Mary’s claiming the win, 18-5.

“As a team, we wanted to at least compete since we are now in a much harder league compared to previous years,” senior Kurt Finney said.

Coach Bo De Lange set many goals for the year as it is his first year coaching.

“My goals were to develop players and understand the capabilities of the team as a first year coach,” De Lange said.

Earlier in the season on Sept. 18 and 19, boys’ water polo team competed in the McNair Tournament. With hard work and pushing their limits, they fought and ended up winning the first place trophy.

Each and every player has his own goals set for the season. Lots of practice and dedication will push them through the rest of the season.

“My only goal was to improve from last season. I just practiced a lot over the summer to improve my swimming and my skills,” senior Eric Lawrence said.

The upcoming game against West on Oct. 28 is going to be a big game for the boys. West is Tracy’s rival and taking the win would be a huge accomplishment.

“It would be really fantastic to beat West in our last game because they are our rival,” Lawrence said.
