On Thursday, Oct. 15, during Tracy High’s homecoming week, the senior girls had a great defeat in the Powder Puff game against the junior class with a final score of18-6. The seniors were ecstatic with their success, and it was a great event for all who participated or got to watch.

“Powder Puff” is an annual event in which the girls of the junior and senior class can both participate in. The girls play flag football and the boys get to cheer or coach the teams. Almost 100 girls signed up for Powder Puff and were ready to play.

“I was really looking forward to playing football with my friends, but I was also nervous to face the seniors,” junior Sophia Shokoor said.

While it seemed like there was a lot of pressure on the juniors because that it would be their first year participating, the seniors were still anxious to play.

“I was nervous to play because I really wanted to beat the juniors,” senior Ashley Hallen said.

Both the juniors and seniors worked hard with their coaches. The coaches were varsity members of the football team, and had hours of practice. By homecoming week, the players knew their plays and were prepared for the game.

“At practices, the coaches were very helpful, and they made sure that we all knew what we were doing,” Shokoor said.

In the first quarter of the game, the juniors scored first and held a 6-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the senior girls scored 18 points and defeated the juniors.

For the senior class, Hallen, Denae Enos, and Kaylah Jenkins scored the three touchdowns, and their plays helped the team on their way to victory against the junior class.

“It was our first touchdown, so it helped set the momentum,” Hallen said of her play.

Once the first score was made, the seniors were ready to keep up the pace and had scored two more times against the juniors.

“I was excited to score because we had been preparing this play since last year,” Enos said.

Although the seniors had defeated the junior class, Shokoor scored the touchdown for the junior team and was excited about her successful play.

“I scored our touchdown, so I was happy to help the team,” Shokoor said.

In the final outcome, the junior girls lost to the seniors, but the seniors were more than happy to have a win for their last homecoming.

“Everyone got to participate in the game, so it was still a great time for all of us who played,” senior Elizabeth McIntyre said.
