Tracy High Schools girls water polo team is looking forward to this year’s season after winning no games last year.

The Tracy high varsity girls water polo team head coach Julie Verjwist said, “Our goals for this season are to become a stronger team and learn new things in water polo.” Last year the girls team went 0-10. Coach Verjwist says that they also want to beat West High, the crosstown rival, here in Tracy.

The team is looking to win more games this year and become a better team as a unit with the 15 players they have on the varsity team.

Madison Baker a four year veteran on the girls water polo team is the team captain for the varsity team. Baker said, “Our goals for this season is to definitely win more games this year.” Baker is looking forward to being a team captain and her senior year to show everyone what she has to offer. Baker and the rest of the team have been working hard all summer long getting in shape and perfecting there skills in water polo.

Sami Lieberg, a Junior water polo player, is “looking forward to building good team work and a really good bond with the rest of her teammates” for the 2018 season. Sami has been on the varsity water polo team for 3 years. The experience she’s had has been really fun and good despite the losing records.

On the season, the team is 0-2 in league, losing to Tokay 12-3 and Lincoln 14-7. St. Mary’s is up next in league play on Monday, Oct. 1.
