Spring is upon us and that means baseball is here! The varsity squad has had a successful team the past couple years and hope to continue this great streak. The five-time league champions have been coached by Vic Alkire for the past 25 years.

Last season, the team had an overall 16-11 record. In league, they were 8-7, but fell short in the playoffs by losing their first game.

The team lost 12 seniors this year. With only four juniors on the team last year, there will be a lot off spots to fill. When asked about his feelings for the 2019 season, Coach Alkire stated, “I feel very confident about this years team. We are very young with a lot of juniors being the bulk of our team.”

The Bulldogs’ biggest league rival is the St. Mary’s Rams. Although, the Rams also lost many seniors this year, but will still be Tracy’s biggest rival. Ryan Dzoan, a senior, was asked about his predictions for the 2019 season. He stated, “I think we will have a better team than last year. We may be younger, but I think we have more experience than last year. I’m excited for this year.”

The season starts out with conditioning January 22-24. Pitchers and catcher report January 28-February 1. Tryouts begin February 4-9 and February 11-16. The first league game begins on April 1 against Tokay. Coach Alkire is excited to get things moving these upcoming months.
