The results have been tallied. Tracy High School’s Associated Student Body (ASB) officers have been chosen for the 2024-2025 school year.
The students voted and the decisions were Jazmine Vargas as President, Janet Romo as Vice President, Jake Hallen as Secretary, Addison VanOs as Treasurer and Dayson Balsano as Board Representative.
Being ASB President requires the making of a trustful environment with the community where they can comfortably express their ideas and emotions to better the school. Previously, Vargas was her class president freshman and sophomore year as well as ASB Treasurer her junior year.
“These previous positions have prepared me tremendously for my ASB President role next year because they taught me what a great leader is, and the skills
needed,” Vargas said. “Three years of experience has taught me a lot and next year will teach me even more.”
ASB Vice President supports and assists the president as needed or in absence of the president it is their duty to step in and fulfill their responsibilities. Such as morning announcements, organizing events, leading meetings and representing the student body itself.
“I am the junior class vice president currently and it has really showed me a lot. I have made mistakes through this year but have seen them as learning opportunities and I am committed to using these experiences to improve and become more effective in my role next year,” Romo said.
The ASB Secretary assists in the preparation and maintenance for the agenda of formal ASB meetings, overseeing class secretaries and providing service to the president.
“Currently, I am serving as the Digital Media Commissioner. Having immersed myself in the digital domain of our leadership program for two years,” Hallen said. “With two years of leadership experience under my belt, I am prepared to make an even greater impact on the Tracy High School community.”
The ASB Board Representative goes to monthly board meetings at the district office to inform board members and the audience what Tracy High has been involved in that month.
Balsano plans to uphold those responsibilities and keep a detailed record of all events at the school to be prepared for those meetings.
“First, Student Store Commissioner then Sophomore Secretary, these roles not only helped me build my skills for the class but life outside of school which I think influenced my decision to run for Board Representative,” Balsano said.
