Tracy High School kicked off the 2024-2025 school year with the Back-to-School Rally. The first month is now in the books and leadership cannot wait to see what the new school year brings.
Jace Johnson, a senior baseball player at Tracy High School had a few words after his first rally of senior year.
“It felt amazing,” Johnson smiled. “Most people were here at the rally. I’m just ready for my senior year to get started and all the activities.”
Different than last year’s rally that was outside in the stadium, leadership split the school into two different rallies. According to Katrina Williams, this was done in hopes that they would get more energy being closer together and being able to hear the rally coordinators.
“It was great, a lot of energy, everyone was into it,” Ryan Torres explained. “My senior class needs to step up their game the second rally, but it was all good. Looking at the stands there aren’t too many people, so this might be a little different, but we will see what happens.”
The theme for this year was Brutis’ Villa taking the newly released Love Island Season 6 into account. The rally included pass the hula-hop, balloon between the knees, ping-pong ball roll, love island trivia, and many more exciting games to involve the student body.
With homecoming being at the end of Sept., leadership announced the homecoming theme, Teenage Dream. Freshmen are Greece, sophomores are Camp Rock, juniors are Teen Beach and seniors are the beloved High School Musical.
Study body energy seemed to hold strong between both rallies. The dance team and cheer team kept the crowd enthused and on their toes. Tracy High’s very own elite baton twirler, Emma Sawin performing as well.
There was a karaoke segment for each grade. Freshmen had “Kiss Me Through the Phone” by Soulja Boy Tell Em’, sophomores had “The Lazy Song” by Bruno Mars, juniors had “Summer Nights” by John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John, and the seniors had “Last Friday Night” by Katy Perry.
Lelia Montour and Luke Vergez are part of the Tracy High Rally Commissioners.
“I think this rally went pretty well,” Montour explained. “I definitely think there was more energy in the second one than the first one, but overall, a good rally. I think the senior class gained a lot of hype over the summer or something because they have a lot of energy and participants in the games today. As for homecoming, I think everyone is hyped for the theme and I think it will be good.”
Montour and Vergez did a great job of getting the crowds hyped for both rallies while feeding on the student body’s energy.
