Tracy High School hosted its annual Club Rush Week from Aug. 20-21, where the campus boasted over 30 clubs.
When asked about any outside forces that might have contributed to his club’s success, Aydin Assifi, one of the founders of the new Speech and Debate Club, thanked the new Clubs and Funds Commissioner.
“That was helpful,” Assifi explained. “We all got together to make posters for our booths.”
The previous Friday, clubs were allowed to get together in the Leadership classroom, in order to make posters and get to know the other presidents in Inter-Club Council.
Dziadzom Djonorh, President of Black Student Union expressed that there was hope for more engagement. This year during club rush week, there was a pleasant surprise with the turnout that she got for sign-ups.
“There are a lot of incoming students who got an opportunity to join. Also, a lot of students at Tracy High who aren’t new got to join too.” Djonorh said. “But I wish Club Rush happened more frequently. Maybe once a quarter? It would show them it’s not too late to join.”
This opinion was shared with other presidents that Club Rush is a good thing, but they don’t get enough of it. With many new students there were new faces, but there were many returning faces which brought more smiles.
Zoe Miles, is a sophomore at Tracy High who visited the booths set out by the clubs.
“There was a lot of new stuff that I didn’t see before, and I was glad to see Bulldog Project back,” Miles explained. “You know, I checked out seven different clubs this year. That’s like, a lot more than I did last year.”
The return of Bulldog Project has been a highlight of Club Rush this year, gloating over 70 sign-ups in its return.
“All in all the week was very successful, at least from my perspective,” Miles responded when asked about how she felt it went. The feeling of sweet success was apparent among all the clubs who partook in the week.
