At Tracy High, there are a variety of clubs offering many different benefits for each student. One of those clubs is the Christian Club. The Christian Club provides a way for students at THS (Tracy High School) to make connections and grow in their faith together as well as to introduce anyone interested in learning about Christianity.
President of the club, Jazmine Vargas, a senior at Tracy High, shares information about the club. This year is the Christian Club’s second year and was created by Vargas herself.
“I’ve grown in my faith since freshman year and wanted to share it and help guide others in their walk with the Lord,” Vargas said.
Vargas’ main goal is to create a judgement free learning space for all those who want to grow in their faith. “It provides them a community of loving individuals with wisdom surrounding them, they are able to learn their value and purpose while having a community to support them,” Vargas informed.
Co-president of the club, Destinee Rodriguez, adds that the Christian club is a safe and fun environment for everyone involved, “Students have a space for those who share Christian beliefs to build friendships and supporting each other in the journey of finding Christ,” Rodriguez explained.
The club consists of activities such as going to a local park and studying the Bible together by making prayer boards. Sermons, a religious speech or discourse, are planned out every week for the members to preach on the topics. The club is also involved in the community by going out and passing out Bible verses on paper for encouragement.
Emma Reece, the previous year’s club sweetheart, shared her experience as a member in the club. “The environment is great and it was good to make some new friends that share the same faith,” Reece said. She was also nominated to represent the club for the night rally and homecoming parade.
