After the conclusion of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in France, the 2028 Olympics are next up and will take place in Los Angeles, California.
The 2028 Olympics will begin on Friday, July 14, ending on Sunday, July 30. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, SoFi Stadium, and the University of Southern California campus will be the venues for the games.
The Los Angeles Olympic Games will introduce five new sports: baseball, softball, lacrosse, cricket, alongside flag football and squash, which will be making their debuts as well.
Tarun Saravana, a senior at Tracy High, expressed excitement about the new events that will take place in 2028.
“It’s amazing to see all of these new sporting events being incorporated into the Olympics and getting to see new players from around the world,” Saravana said.
Saravana is most excited to see flag football become part of the Olympics and can’t wait for Team USA to win gold.
The United States are expected to be even more dominant as more American sports are being incorporated into the games.
“Team USA should take gold in most of these new events. Softball, baseball, flag football, and lacrosse are all American sports. We have too many great athletes in these events to lose to any other countries,” Gio Munoz, a sophomore at Lincoln High School, said.
Munoz watched the last two Olympic Games and was very pleased with how the United States performed.
Los Angeles is making significant investments in public transportation to accommodate the large crowds that the Olympics will attract. This includes expanding the Metro System and enhancing bus services.
“It’s good that Los Angeles is upgrading their transportation for the Olympics, and it will also help the residents of Los Angeles get around the area better,” Pipat Pranpradit, a senior at Tracy High, explained.
Not only will the upgrade prepare for the rush of the Olympics, it is much needed for the local residents of Los Angeles.
The 2028 Olympics will give an unforgettable celebration of athletic excellence and global unity.
