Shohei Ohtani, the star hitter on the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, has broken records.
Ryan Torres, a senior baseball player at Tracy High and longtime Dodgers fan, expressed how Shohei has affected the Dodgers team this year.
“I think Ohtani was a good effect on the dodgers and carried them to victory most of the time and before he had his arm injury he was a big part in the pitching rotation. He also pushed his team to success and was a role model to his teammates,” Torres said. “Due to his success on the field it grew his fan base and will definitely be in the Hall of Fame.”
Ohtani was the best hitter for the Dodgers and put up a .310 batting average, 54 home-runs, 59 stolen bases and 134 runs batted in.
Malachi Bartholomew, a junior at Tracy High and former baseball player, expressed how hard baseball can be on your body and how Ohtani made a huge impact this whole season.
“He has a big impact with the Dodger team and their fans,” Bartholomew said. “Since he has brought his talent from the Angels to the Dodgers, he has changed the game for them drastically.”
This season, Ohtani has proved why he is one of the best in the business at hitting home runs and stealing bases with his 50/50 season, setting his own MLB record.
Bryce Correll, a senior at Tracy High and a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, expressed how Ohtani’s excellent season for the Dodgers has affected them through their season and the road to the playoffs.
“His excellence has positively affected them. He has hit lots of home runs and stolen bases. He was the first player to ever get 50/50 in a season,” Correll said. “That and him being there has amped the Dodgers up to make the playoffs and play good in them right now.”
Ohtani has been nothing but excellent this season for the Dodgers and is trying to lead them to their eighth World Series title in his first ever playoff run.
