Tracy High’s annual Homecoming parade was held in downtown Tracy on Oct. 4. The parade is a fun function to attend with family and friends and involved the community.
The main floats were the class floats. Freshmen’s float theme was “Grease,” sophomore’s theme was “Camp Rock,” juniors had “Teen Beach Movie,” and seniors chose “High School Musical” for one last Homecoming parade.
Students from each class who participated in all the flower parties were excused to help build the float. Each class had a couple of hours to use their creativity to complete their floats, the morning of the parade.
There were a lot of different floats with club sweethearts, the Tracy High cheer team, Tracy Buccaneers football, Tracy Rampage football, royal court, and the other class’ Homecoming prince and princess.
Tracy High showed their spirit by wearing green and gold. Hearing the audience cheer for every club and those who participated in the parade showed the community’s support. The club sweethearts were grateful to be part of the parade to put their clubs name out their for upcoming students.
“My favorite part about the homecoming parade was waving to children, being surrounded by friends, riding through the crowd seeing familiar faces,” Christian Club sweetheart Destiny Rodriguez said. “It was fun to represent my club, Christian club and be part of a homecoming tradition.”
The class floats were all very creative and the seniors won the best float this year. A creative piece that was on the float was Brutus wearing a cap and gown to represent the class of 2025 graduating this school year.
“The senior float was the best float because it executed the high school musical theme and it represented the seniors,” Emily Hogue, a senior at Tracy High and part of the Child Care program, said.
The cheer team had a special float as well. They entered the homecoming parade on a boat with green and gold decorations. The cheer team showed a lot of spirit with their pom-poms while smiling and waving to the crowd.
“I think we did a great job at bringing our own energy. With bright smiles and fun music on our float allowing us to have a lot of fun,” Mikayah Moore, a sophomore and cheerleader at Tracy High, explained.
This year’s annual Homecoming parade creates excitement for future years to come.
