As winter approaches, so does Tracy High girls’ soccer season. With over 60 girls trying out, the hopes are high for this year’s team.
Junior Varsity coach Nate Perry illustrated his excitement for the winter season.
“This group is very promising,” Perry said. “I believe we can go further than we have in years past.”
The Tracy High girls soccer program has had an incredibly positive record in recent years. In the 2021-2022 season, the girls placed first in league and made a deep run to the quarterfinals in playoffs.
Varsity has made playoffs every year, but typically does not make it past the third round. With lots of high-level players being brought in this year, the coaches are optimistic about both teams winning a title.
“I believe we should win league titles with both levels this year,” Perry said.
With only three seniors leaving last year, there are limited varsity spots this year. Perry emphasized how competitive the program will be this year.
“We will have a lot of great JV players, and I think a lot of these freshman will be pushing for Varsity,” Perry explained.
As the competition erupts, these players will be working hard to earn a place on this year’s team. Varsity athlete Aubrie Prichard discussed her outlook for the 2024-2025 season.
“I am so excited. I think we will be good this year with all our seniors and all the incoming freshman,” Prichard said.
Last year, the Tracy High soccer program struggled to get enough girls to participate. The JV team fought through a myriad of injuries and underclassmen varsity players were often brought down to help.
Senior athlete Faythe Delong spoke out about her promising attitude for this year’s team.
“I think this is our year,” DeLong said. “The team looks wonderful.”
With a positive attitude for this season, the girls will continue to participate in limited practices until the actual season begins. The upcoming practice dates will be Nov. 1 and Nov. 4.
