In a spirited finale to their home season, the Tracy High Bulldogs faced the St. Mary’s Rams at the Wayne Schneider Stadium on Senior Night, ultimately falling 45-14. Tracy High’s student section, known as the “Dog Pound,” showed out by wearing pink to support breast cancer awareness while celebrating the senior players.
The Bulldogs demonstrated strong defensive efforts and managed to keep the game competitive in the first half. However, the Rams intensified their performance in the third quarter, to help secure their 24th straight victory over Tracy.
Reflecting on the season, Football Coach Jeff Pribble was asked how he feels the team has grown and developed.
“In the long run, it’s not all about wins and losses,” Pribble stated, with a smile. “It’s about the experience and the things you learn with these guys and the togetherness you feel. I couldn’t be more proud of my football team, and I look forward to hanging out with them every day at practice.”
The Bulldogs started on offense but quickly faced an interception. St. Mary’s scored first with a touchdown, taking a 7-0 lead. Tracy’s defense held strong but struggled offensively, missing a scoring opportunity on their next drive.
In the second quarter, the Rams extended their lead to 10-0 with a field goal and then 17-0 before Brady Brown rushed for a touchdown, making it 17-7. However, St. Mary’s responded quickly, scoring again to lead 24-7 at halftime.
The Rams dominated the third quarter, scoring three more touchdowns and pulling ahead 45-7. In the fourth quarter, Brown connected with David Goularte for a touchdown, closing the game at 45-14.
Senior Isaias Servin shared his feelings about playing on the home field one last time.
“Heartbreaking actually,” Servin said, “It’s the last time I’ll be on this field. It just hurts but I have a lot of good memories here that will definitely carry on in my life.”
Junior David Goularte was asked how being apart of the football team has shaped his high school experience so far.
“It’s made my experience a lot more fun,” he added. “Getting to know all these guys and have a community in this team, plus being able to be with each other throughout the year is the best part.”
Running back Derek Bogetti reflected on the season when asked to share memorable moments.
“Tonight we had no chance of playoffs, but it was fun to just come out and have fun and do what we could for our last home game,” Bogetti said.
With a record of 2-7, the Bulldogs will look to finish their season on a high note as they travel to Kimball High School, Nov. 1, for their final game of the 2024 season.
