JaRell McIntyre, the newly appointed head coach of the Tracy High School baseball team, brings a lifetime of experience and a deep passion for the game to his new role. Growing up in Elk Grove, he played baseball throughout his youth and eventually became a division one athlete, spending four years at the University of Nevada. He celebrated a Conference Championship and earned All-Conference honors, solidifying his love and commitment to the sport.
“My journey in baseball has been extensive,” McIntyre explained. “After Laguna Creek High School, I was drafted by the New York Yankees. Since then, I’ve coached teams all over the Bay Area, Sacramento and the Valley, working with college and professional players in the off-season.”
Reflecting on his journey, Coach McIntyre emphasized the importance of perseverance.
“Baseball is a hard game,” McIntyre admitted. “Competing every day takes a unique mindset, and as a coach, I’ve learned to meet players where they are, then challenge them to grow. No one rises to low expectations.”
Stepping into his first high school head coaching position, McIntyre acknowledges the adjustments that come with the new role.
“There’s a lot to learn outside of the diamond,” he shared. “But within the white lines, the game is the same.”
Coach McIntyre is bringing a disciplined and focused approach to the Tracy High baseball program this year. His strategies center on respect, hard work and competition.
“We will respect the game, play hard, and compete,” McIntyre emphasized. “Our players need to stay focused on the process that leads to success. There are no shortcuts to our goals. Success will cost us something and we have to earn it.”
His vision for the team goes beyond just winning games. Building a solid culture and fostering a sense of community among the players is equally important.
“I enjoy seeing young athletes understand their roles and commit to being their best for the team,” McIntyre said. “Developing a strong culture is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching.”
McIntyre’s enthusiasm for baseball is palpable, and he’s eager to share that passion with his players.
“The game has always been fun and a passion for me,” McIntyre expressed. “I enjoy sharing that joy with our players and watching them grow, both on and off the field.”
Tracy High baseball is embarking on a new chapter under Coach McIntyre’s leadership, with high expectations and a determined focus on the journey ahead. As the season unfolds, his impact on the team is sure to leave a lasting legacy, both in the players’ skills and the culture they build together.
