From Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, Tracy High School was electric as students celebrated Rivalry Week, leading up to the last football game against Kimball High School. This spirit-filled week brought students together, encouraging friendly competition and school pride.
Noelle Martinez, a junior at Tracy High, expressed the excitement she felt throughout the week.
“Rivalry Week made school so fun,” Martinez said. “Everyone on campus was filled with excitement and united as one spirited school. We all wanted to show our pride and support.”
Each day of Rivalry Week had a special theme to inspire creativity and participation. The week started on Monday with “Rhyme Without Reason,” where students paired up to create matching costumes based on rhyming words. The day established a lively tone for the week ahead.
On Tuesday, the theme was “Red Flags vs. White Lies.” Students wore red T-shirts with a negative trait about themselves, like “I expect you to know how I feel.” Others wore white T-shirts that shared a playful lie, such as “I hate THS.” This encouraged students to engage with one another in a lighthearted way.
Wednesday featured “Country vs. Country Club,” where students showcased their style, whether they preferred rustic looks or fancy outfits. On Thursday, everyone was invited to wear their Halloween costumes, adding even more creativity to the week.
The final day, Friday, was “Extreme Green and Gold,” where students wore school colors to cheer on the team for the big game against Kimball.
Senior Adriana Easley noted how Rivalry Week brought THS students together.
“These spirit days helped bring everyone together at school by showing how involved people are and that we are all cheering for the same thing at the end of the day,” Easley shared.
Associated Student Body Secretary Jake Hallen discussed the impact of Rivalry Week.
“Having an opponent (competition between students) during this week created a fun atmosphere of friendly rivalry,” Hallen expressed. “It made the spirit at Friday’s game even more exciting, and I was so happy to see so many students participating and having fun.”
As Tracy High School prepared for its final game against Kimball, Rivalry Week brought school spirit to the next level while connecting students through fun themes and shared experiences.
