Jacobus Brakkee, a senior at Tracy High School, built his senior project based around the affect the Ag/Sci program has had on alumni in their life today.
Brakkee expressed how his senior project is going to benefit kids wanting to join the Ag/Sci program and show how this program will impact their future.
“My senior project demonstrates to incoming high school students that the Ag/Sci program offers many opportunities to positively impact their future,” Brakkee said.
In Brakkee’s project, he interviewed 50 alumni from the Tracy High Ag/Sci Program and questioned how the program has affected their current life from the day they graduated high school.
Amanda Vasquez, a graduate from Tracy High out of the Ag/Sci program, expressed how this program has had an impact on her current life and job.
“I would say the Ag/Sci program has definitely impacted my current life because it exposed me to different career paths through the Saturday Seminars and job shadowing, which is how I first learned about ultrasound technology and what a job in that field involves,” Amanda Vasquez said. “I’ve now been working as an ultrasound tech for the last six years and it’s in part due to the program giving me the unique opportunity to observe a working ultrasound tech and ask them questions about their day-to-day experiences in the field.”
Kelsi Vasquez, another graduate from the Ag/Sci program here at Tracy High, expressed how this program has had an affect on her as a person.
“I think in a way yes it has, the Ag/Sci program has affected my current lifestyle,” Kelsi Vasquez explained. “I am a quiet person but I think I was a little quieter in high school. Presenting my senior project in front of a huge crowd pushed me out of my comfort zone and it gave me more confidence when talking with people. I’m currently in physical therapy school and my confidence has grown even more since high school and I’m comfortable speaking with patients! Every once in a while I will reflect back on my senior project presentation and I am grateful for that experience (even though at the time I was terrified).”
Brakkee hopes his senior project will influence kids to join the Ag/Sci program by showing them what alumni’s took out of the program.
