This year’s downtown Christmas parade included a variety of performances, floats, and community participation. The streets were packed with thousands of people as floats displayed their Christmas spirit. Families were overjoyed to share such a magical experience together.
Mother Genelyne Galindo shared, “This year was one of the best years. The floats did great!”
The parade was proudly led by Melo construction and the Tracy High School band. Many individuals shared that the bands were their favorite part of the event. For Juan Bautista, this winter parade held a more special meaning, as it was his last time participating.
“I really enjoyed leading the band for the last time, and seeing the community come together for the holidays,” Bautista said. “Performing for younger people made it enjoyable because they are exposed to what they can look forward to in the future.”
The excitement didn’t end there. With over 40 groups participating, the parade was a lot longer than it had been in previous years. This went well with the viewers, who felt it made the experience even more unforgettable.
Senior Allen Lamothe reflected on the length of the parade, saying, “The parade being longer made the experience more memorable.”
Throughout the hour-long parade, candy and flyers were handed out by multiple groups as children bounced around with joy. Everyone had something to look forward to in this parade.
Some people commented on the band, while others simply enjoyed the hot chocolate. Tracy High student Breea Lewandowski commented on the overall look of the event.
“Our town looked like a hallmark Christmas movie,” Lewandowski said.
Everyone could agree that the communities spirit was unmatched this year.
Spectator, Anamari Perez was one of many to enjoy the widespread spirit, “I enjoyed all the participation and everyone coming together to celebrate an early Christmas,” said Perez.
After loads of cars, floats, bands, and walking groups coming through, the parade was coming to an end.
When the final float came through, people could no longer contain their excitement. Families shouted for Santa Clause’s attention as he made his way through the streets. The huge crowd eagerly followed Santa towards the Downtown Plaza for the tree lighting ceremony.
After singing Christmas carols and announcing the winners from the parade, the tree was finally illuminated. It was the perfect way to end the night after a truly remarkable Christmas parade.
