As the Tracy High Varsity baseball season approaches, excitement builds for what promises to be a competitive and rewarding journey. The team has been hard at work throughout the offseason, dedicating time to the weight room and refining their skills on the field. Under the leadership of their new head coach, JaRell McIntyre, the players are ready to take on the season with grit and determination.
McIntyre has brought fresh energy and focus to the team. He emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence.
“We will respect the game, play hard, and compete throughout the season. We have a good group of players, and I look forward to building a solid culture and developing as a team,” McIntyre said.
“My primary goal is to keep everyone focused on what gives us the chance to win and to ensure everyone is bought into the process. Success will cost us something—there are no shortcuts or easy routes to our goals.”
The players are equally enthusiastic about the upcoming season, each bringing unique skills, goals, and perspectives to the field.
About the Players

Joshua Giuliacci
Joshua Giuliacci, a senior at Tracy High School, has been passionate about baseball for as long as he can remember, with his father being the first to introduce him to the sport.
“This year, I would like to be one of the key contributors to the team and for the team to compete in playoffs,” Giuliacci said.
His ability to consistently get on base and disrupt opposing defenses makes him a vital asset in the outfield. Last season, Giuliacci had an on-base percentage of .750.
Elijah Gutierrez

Elijah Gutierrez, a senior at Tracy High School, began playing baseball at the age of three, encouraged by his parents. With over 14 years of experience, he is ready to help lead his team this season.
“My personal goals are to help lead my team to success, dominate in every aspect of my game, and have fun,” Gutierrez shared.
As a center fielder, Elijah’s biggest strengths are his speed, arm strength, and bat power. He also brings leadership and passion to the team. Gutierrez had a batting average of .333 last season.
Jace Johnson

Jace Johnson, a senior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball for 14 years, inspired by his dad and early exposure to the sport.
“My personal goals are to have an efficient year, and our team goals are to sneak into playoffs this year,” Johnson said.
As a pitcher, Johnson’s strengths lie in his velocity, fastball movement, and his height, which gives him an edge on the mound.

Leland Freitas
Leland Freitas, a junior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball for 12 years, motivated by his dad’s encouragement to play sports.
“My personal goals for this season are to be a productive teammate and do my part when given the opportunity,” Freitas said.
Versatile in his roles, Freitas plays as a catcher, second baseman, and outfielder. His consistency and team-first attitude make him a key player. Last season, Freitas had 17 runs batted in and a batting average of .311.

Malakai Jacobo
Malakai Jacobo, a junior at Tracy High School, began playing baseball at the age of four. He quickly developed a passion for the sport, driven by the enjoyment it brought him and the challenges it presented. With years of experience, he has grown into a versatile player who is ready to lead his team this season.
“My personal goals are to maintain a batting average above .300 and keep my GPA above 3.5,” Jacobo shared. “As a team, I want us to dominate, win league, and make a strong playoff run.”
Jacobo plays both infield and outfield, using his speed, leadership, and communication to elevate the team’s performance.

Dylan Giannini
Dylan Giannini, a senior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball for 13 years. His love for the game grew as he watched his older brother play and was inspired by the support and encouragement of his parents. Over the years, Giannini has developed into a dependable and disciplined athlete.
“I want to be a guy my teammates can count on, whether it’s making a play in the field or keeping us locked in during tough games,” Giannini said. “If we come together as a team, we can achieve something special this season.”
As a shortstop, Giannini biggest strengths include his high baseball IQ, resilience, and adaptability. Giannini’s batting average last season was .225.
Jacoby Freitas

Jacoby Freitas, a junior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball since he was four years old. Inspired by his father, a former baseball player, Freitas found his love for the game early on and has worked hard to improve every year.
“I just want to do whatever it takes to help my team win,” Freitas said. “Whether I’m on the mound, in the outfield, or at the plate, I’m going to compete and give it everything I’ve got.”
Playing as both a pitcher and a left fielder, Jacoby’s biggest strengths include his situational awareness and consistency at the plate. Freitas’ batting average last season was .288.
Jason Campbell

Jason Campbell, a senior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball for 12 years. Encouraged by his parents, he started at an early age and stuck with it, eventually developing a deep appreciation for the game. Over the years, Campbell has grown into a reliable and dedicated player.
“This year, my personal goal is to succeed more offensively and hit more bombs,” Campbell said. “As a team, I think we should focus on competing in the playoffs and dominating the other teams in Tracy.”
Campbell plays catcher and third base, and his biggest strength is staying calm under pressure and finishing the job in critical moments. He also strives to bring a positive environment to the team, ensuring unity and focus throughout the season.
Ryan Torres

Ryan Torres, a senior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball for 15 years. His dad, a former baseball player, signed him up for the sport at just two years old, igniting a lifelong love for the game.
“My personal goals for this season are to be a better teammate and work hard to break records,” Torres shared. “As a team, I want us to compete and make a deep run in the playoffs.”
Torres plays catcher, a position he has held since he first began playing baseball. His biggest strengths are his leadership, communication, and ability to bring his team together to perform at their best. Last season, Torres’ batting average was .300.
Juan Godoy

Juan Godoy, a senior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball since the age of three. Encouraged by his uncles who both coached, Godoy grew up surrounded by the game, developing a passion for it. Over the years, he has become a versatile and dependable player.
“This year, my personal goal is to be an All-League player,” Godoy said. “As a team, I think we have the talent to make it to the playoffs, and I want to do whatever I can to help us get there.”
Godoy plays shortstop and third base, but his versatility allows him to play almost any position except catcher. His strongest assets are his powerful arm and consistent hitting.
Josh Verduzco

Josh Verduzco, a junior at Tracy High School, has been a key contributor to the baseball program since his freshman year. He has shown exceptional batting averages, suggesting he will be a key hitter this upcoming season. Verduzco batted .326 his freshman year and .230 his sophomore year.
Colby Dorn
Colby Dorn, a junior at Tracy High School, has been a part of the baseball program since his freshman year. Dorn brings great agility as a second baseman, and his batting averages indicate he has a powerful swing that will be valuable this season. He batted .275 his freshman year and .309 his sophomore year.
Derek Bogetti

Derek Bogetti, a senior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball since he was six years old, inspired by watching Major League Baseball and dreaming of playing at a high level.
“My personal goal for the year is to have a good season and get some good hits, and my team goal is to make it to playoffs,” Bogetti said.
Known for his base-running abilities and strong hitting, Bogetti plays primarily at first base but can also cover third base and the outfield.
Jack Karle

Jack Karle, a senior at Tracy High School, has been playing baseball for 12 years now and first got into the sport in the first place because he wanted to be outside and active.
“My goal for this season is to hit a home run and win league,” Karle said.
Karle is a pitcher and plays in the corner outfield spots with his biggest strength being his natural power.
Looking Ahead
With a solid foundation built during the offseason and a strong sense of team support, the Tracy High Varsity baseball team is ready to take the field on Feb. 17 with their matchup against Tokay. The players, guided by McIntyre’s leadership, are focused on their goals and eager to make their mark. Whether through individual achievements or team successes, they are determined to make this season one to remember.
