On Mon. Feb. 24, the Tracy High Boys Golf Team participated in their first tournament of the 2025 season in Livermore, Calif.
The Bulldogs played at Wente Vineyards in the Cowboy Classic hosted by Livermore High School.
When asked about the team’s performance, Marc Wescott, head coach of the team, shared his thoughts.
“I thought the team played well considering it was the second time they had been out there playing against a lot of good schools on a tough course,” Wescott said.
Owen Moore had the best score for the team with a 73, followed by Jacobus Brakkee with a 74. Next, was an 82 for Hayden Thein and an 83 for Brandon Keith and the final score for the team was Thomas Moore with a 90. The total adds up to a 402 score for the Bulldogs.
Owen Moore explained that he was very happy with how he played because he stayed consistent the whole time as he reflected.
“I need to sharpen my putting skills because I did not capitalize on birdie putts,” Owen Moore said.
Thein reviewed his performance by stating that he felt that he could have played better and that the way he played was disappointing to him.
“My biggest problem was that I went into the tournament with overconfidence which caused me to have high expectations which unfortunately I was unable to recover from,” Thein said.
Thomas Moore stated his round wasn’t one of his best and he clarified that it was due to lack of confidence in himself. He understands what he should do to improve his game.
“I think I can improve my short game in order to gain more shots around the green,” Thomas Moore said.
Overall, the bulldogs first golf tournament was a success and they will continue to work hard to improve the team dynamic as well as their individual skills to ensure victory in future tournaments and matches to come.
