On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Bulldogs beat the Liberty Lions with a final score of 7-3 at Liberty. Tracy led the charge with four hits, scoring two runs in the second inning.
Ava Nelson started the rally for the Bulldogs with a walk. Nelson was the first in the game to get on base and start the momentum for the Bulldogs.
“My first at bat I was trying to start something off,” Nelson said. “I was being disciplined because I wanted to have a quality at bat that I avoided swinging at the rise ball.”
The Bulldogs scored in the top of the second inning when senior Jayme Aguon singled to center field, scoring Nelson. Freshman Taylor Munoz hit a sacrifice fly to score another run afterwards.
Sophomore Hayden Fell had an impressive performance on the mound, including a home run that scored two runs for the Bulldogs in the third inning. She came in to pitch in the fifth inning and had a total of four strike outs.
“It felt good to get those runs in for my team and it was fun celebrating with them after,” Fell said. “My plan to continue doing well on the mound is to keep showing up and working hard at practice.”
Tracy High also made no errors and had four stolen bases. The Bulldogs were ready to play and ready for a tough game. When the Lions scored, the Bulldogs remained calm and passed the bat on offense.
Elisa Galli started on the mound and struck out seven batters, with one walk, and had three runs scored on her in four innings.
“To mentally prepare myself for the Liberty game, I listened to music and had a good pregame meal,” Galli said. “It feels good coming off a good season from basketball and I was super excited for softball to start because it is the sport I thrive in.”
Leadoff batter Taylor Sansaver went two for four with a single and a double to left field. Sansaver made a great catch in left field, preventing runners from scoring more runs.
The Bulldogs gave an impressive performance, they are set to take on their next game at Amador Valley on Thurs. Feb. 27.
