Global Recycling Day, celebrated March 18, is dedicated to recognizing the importance of recycling in our world. Foundations that support Global Recycling encourage people, businesses and the world to prevent waste by re-using materials that are still in good condition.
Recycling helps reduce pollution, creates natural resources from re-using and cuts down on landfill waste.
Around the world, cities and organizations are hosting events to recycle. Cities and organizations promote by using clothes recycling bins to recycle old clothes and recycling challenges. Schools are also encouraging students to get involved in eco-friendly projects.
“I can encourage friends and my family to join me in recycling correctly,” Gianna Fernandes said, a senior at Tracy High School. “I keep up with recycling frequently and make sure my trash and recycle are separated.”
By recycling more, it can save energy and create new jobs for people who want to participate in helping the world.
If recycling continues to be ignored, animals will suffer from bad pollution and die from their food being harmed by the environment they live in.
“A pet may injure themselves if we leave recyclable waste out in the open rather than properly stored in a commercial recycling bin,” Brad Smith said, in his article on The Vanella Group website. “It’s simple to keep animals safe from harmful garbage.”
There are actions to create a difference that will help to prevent bad air pollution. To improve pollution, people should sort out their waste, reduce and reuse and spread the word.
“I always think of my world before I throw my bottles in the trash,” Ava Nelson said, another student at Tracy High School. “I help by recycling my cans and bottles by separating it from the trash.”
As technology improves, scientists are working to find better ways to recycle electronic waste, known as e-waste. They are researching ways to improve and expand the recycling system.
Every year on March 18, take a moment to think about your waste and what you can do to make a difference in a world.
Global Recycling Day is a reminder that every choice matters. If everyone does their part, this can help create a cleaner and healthier planet for our future.
