On Tues, March 18. Tracy’s softball team played its first league game of the season against Kimball High School. After entering extra innings, Tracy eventually lost with a final score of 7-5.
In the third inning, the Jaguars scored the first run, eventually building a 5-0 lead. Tracy began to rally in the sixth inning, with sophomore Taylor Sansaver scoring the team’s first run.

Along with Sansaver, junior Emalee Cargill scored the second run.
“The game for sure highlighted both our strengths and areas for improvement,” said Cargill, who is in her second year as team captain and is committed to Cal Berkeley. “As a captain, I’ll do my best to lead by example and remind everyone to trust their training. We have each other’s backs no matter what.”
Sophomore Hayden Fell also contributed to the score.
“We struggled a lot this game, but we will come back stronger as a team and work through it,” said Fell, who plays pitcher and first base and is third in the lineup. “I believe we will have a great season as a team and will get to playoffs.”
To close out the sixth inning, sophomore Ava Crivello had an RBI to bring in the tying runs, sending the game to extra innings with a score of 5-5.
“It felt good because we all wanted to win against Kimball, and it gave us hope,” said Crivello, who plays second base and has been playing softball for 10 years. “No matter what team we are playing against, we will play to our best abilities.”
In the 10th inning, Kimball scored two runs to bring the game to an end with a final score of 7-5. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs remain optimistic.
“We were all disappointed that we lost, but next time we will come back and beat them,” Crivello said.
Their next game is against Lodi on Thursday, March 20, at Tracy Sports Complex, starting at 4 p.m.
