The week of March 24 through the 28, Tracy High School counselors celebrated Wellness week to promote students’ mental health. Throughout the week, various activities and workshops were held that focused on stress management, mindfulness and student well-being.
Each day offered something different and unique. Students were encouraged to participate in these activities during both lunches and reset through creative outlets like rock painting and making friendship bracelets.
According to Tracy high counselor Ms. Abraham, she hopes student’s biggest takeaway from wellness week was,” learning how to reach out when you need help, the importance of mental health and how fun it is to come together as a community and bring each other up through activities.”
A visit from CAPS (Child Abuse Prevention Council) provided our bulldogs with helpful resources and information about emotional safety. Meanwhile, games like Jenga and Connect Four added some friendly competition to the quad, where these activities took place.
One of the most talked about activities was the clipping challenge, where students and staff shared encouraging messages on clothespins and clipped them onto random people. It was a simple act of kindness that spread a lot of joy throughout the whole campus.
“I got clipped with a message that said, ‘You’re doing better than you think,’ and it literally made my day,” said senior Trinity Seierup. “I still have it on my backpack as a reminder to stay positive.”
Senior Riley Matz also appreciated the week’s events.
“The water tasting game was hilarious. I didn’t know I had such strong opinions on what water I liked and disliked until now,” Matz expressed.
Music also was played throughout the entire week, adding to the laid-back vibe and helping students unwind between classes.
In a time when stress is high and schedules are packed, Tracy High Wellness Week reminded students to take a breath and look out for each other and know that support is always available!
