On April 5, 2025, Tracy High students were transported to “A Night in Neverland,” for this year’s prom, held at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.
The venue, with its aquarium on the lower level and rainforest exhibits, provided a pleasing and unimaginable experience for an unforgettable evening.
The event was the result of months of planning led by class president, Grace Finton and her junior class.
After careful consideration, the juniors chose the Academy for its combination of what the venue itself had to offer, like its spacious dance floor and the intriguing exhibits.
According to Finton, the goal was to create a night where students could not only enjoy a traditional prom experience but also have the freedom to explore the venue and enjoy the exhibits.
The inclusion of the Academy’s famous albino alligator, Claude, even inspired this year’s theme, adding a touch to the night’s magical atmosphere.
The evening reached its peak with the crowning of prom king and queen—Jacobus Brakkee and Jordan Coloma.
For Brakkee, the moment was a mix of shock and extreme happiness.
“I didn’t expect to win,” he admitted. “I feel very honored that my classmates selected me.”
Coloma shared similar feelings of disbelief and excitement, describing the experience as something out of a movie.
“This moment was such a special part of my senior year,” Coloma said. “I will forever remember all the excitement and kindness in the room the whole night.”
Both Coloma and Brakkee expressed how meaningful it was to share the moment together, surrounded by their peers and classmates, celebrating one last prom before graduation.
As the night came to an end, students returned to Tracy with not just memories of dancing and exploring but a sense of unity and love between one another.
For many, this prom marked the final chapter in their high school experience, a night where time seemed to stand still and dreams of Neverland became a reality.
