Coming off their victory over Lincoln on Monday, April 25, the Bulldogs hoped to continue to create momentum at home with their second game of a three-game series on Wednesday, April 23. Jace Johnson had another great performance on the mound that was spoiled by Tracy’s offense, who was held scoreless throughout the ball game.
The Trojans took control in the second inning with some good bunts and timely hits, scoring three runs on the Bulldog ace. Johnson settled in, holding the Trojans scoreless the rest of the way.
Johnson ended his outing in the seventh inning with seven strikeouts and seven hits given up. Junior pitcher, Juan Godoy, came in relief in the seventh and kept the Lincoln bats silent.
“Lincoln’s early scoring added pressure to the team as we were not playing to our full potential,” Giannini said. “We were able to stay focused by Jace’s solid pitching keeping us in the game all the way until the end.”

Despite several scoring opportunities, Tracy failed to bring any runners home and capitalize on the few defensive errors made by Lincoln.
Offensively, junior Jacoby Freitas led the Bulldogs with two hits including a double, while seniors Elijah Gutierrez and Ryan Torres each added singles of their own. Tracy had runners on in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings but failed to get a timely hit.
Even though the Bulldogs came short, the gritty Bulldogs displayed solid defense and strong pitching but came up a little short. The Bulldogs must win the next four games in order to make the playoffs. The Bulldogs conclude the series on Friday, April 25 at 4 p.m.
