Last Tuesday, the Tracy High School Bulldogs and Kimball High School Jaguars came together to celebrate and honor the memory of Will Faasisila.
His daughters Karina and Kesaia Faasisila both played for the Bulldogs and his niece Iolana Faasisila, a junior, plays for Kimball High School softball.
Before the first pitch, senior players from the Bulldogs gave the Faasisila family flowers.
Both coaches from the teams, Paulette Kenney and Justin Bigler, gave speeches addressing the Faasisila family before the game started.
“Even though we are rivals on the field, today we put that aside and play for something bigger,” Bigler said. “We play to celebrate the life of Will Faasisila.”
Both teams wore white to honor Lung Cancer Awareness and wore white bracelets were given out that read, “Live life to the fullest.”
Even though Will Faasisila wasn’t there on the field, he will always a big part of Tracy legacy.
After the memorial, the game began.
Tracy had an exciting game beating Kimball 13-3. Tracy scored first and had successful bats on offense.
Tracy’s win vs Kimball was the second victory over the Jaguars this season. It was the Bulldog’s and Jaguar’s last game against each other for the 2025 season.
The Bulldogs played five dominant innings with 20 hits and shut down defense. Senior Elisa Galli pitched. Galli had 10 strike outs with one earned run and two unearned.
“My favorite part of the game was when we we scored in the first inning and came out and got three outs back to back.” Galli said. “I will continue to work on my pitching, so we are ready for playoffs.”
Junior Emalee Cargil was the first hit of the game and went three for three at the plate with one home run. Cargil had two stolen bases.
“I have been working hard in practice and at home to have a well performance,” Cargil said. “My goal when I go up to bat is to make contact.”
Sophomore Taylor Sansaver went two for three with a three run RBI and one triple.
Since last Tuesday, the Bulldogs have played five more games, including the NorCal Tournament and against Lodi, winning all five games. The Bulldogs will travel to Lincoln and play today.
