On Tues., May 6, the Tracy High School softball team hosted West High School for their senior night. Tracy defeated West by a wide margin with a final score of 12-0. Going into the game, the Bulldogs were sitting at first place in league with a 14-1 record.
Jayme Aguon, Kaylee Carillo, Reanna Zuniga and Elisa Galli were honored in the senior night ceremony.
Galli was dominant in her senior night outing against the Wolfpack, as she pitched five innings of shutout ball with 13 strikeouts and just two hits given up.
“It felt bittersweet knowing it was my last game for league,” Galli said. “Going into playoffs, no games are promised.”
The Bulldogs never looked back after Emalee Cargill scored the first run of the game for the Bulldogs in a five run first inning.
Carillo started in left field for the Bulldogs and went 1-3 with an RBI in her senior night performance.
“I just wanted to take it one play and one game at a time for my last year,” Carillo said. “High school ball is an escape from travel ball so I make the most of it.”
Aguon was the starting catcher for the Bulldogs and had a good day at the plate, going 3-3 with two doubles and 3 RBIs.
“Going into this game, I told myself to have fun because it could be the last one of the season,” Aguon said. “My favorite memory was the bus rides and all our fun times at practice.”
Zuniga started at center field for the Bulldogs and had a good day at the plate as well, going 1-2 with an RBI triple and a stolen base.
“I went into my senior night with confidence and gave it my all,” Zuniga said. “I am definitely sad that it is my last season, but I loved every part of it and I am ready for my plans after high school.”
The girls are now preparing for playoffs which will be held on Wed., May 14 at the Tracy Sports Complex.
