On August 18, 2025, Tracy High School kicked off the senior events with the annual Senior Sunrise in Wayne Schneider Stadium. Students were encouraged to wake up bright and early to take part in the tradition.
Alexia Garcia, a current senior at Tracy High School described the challenges of waking up early.
“I am very tired,” Garcia admitted, while explaining the importance of not missing the event. “I’m glad I woke up to see my friends.”
Besides the tough wake up, many students were excited to attend the event, as it would be the first of many.
Angie Barrios was excited about the year.
“It’s a good start to the new school year,” Barrios affirmed.
Leadership class provided donuts and the Brew Life Coffee Bar supplied coffee to make the early morning wake up much more enjoyable.
The senior class took the chance to reconnect with their classmates and enjoy games such as cornhole and spike ball.
“The golden hour…taking pictures in it [was my favorite part],” Senior Jaden Urteaga said.
Golden hour is when the sun creates a vivid hue after rising, making it perfect for picture taking and photography.
Others were taking in the moments chatting with friends and capturing it with photos and videos. Many groups also celebrated with fun and colorful matching sweatshirts, shirts, sweats, etc.
The Senior Sunrise reminds seniors they only experience these moments and events one final year.
“[I’m] trying to make the most of my year, just trying to have fun and do everything I can,” Urteaga concluded.
