This past week, the counselors of Tracy High gathered to create a back-to-school presentation for the Bulldog students. The presentation was targeted at sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Tracy High School.
The counselors highlighted ways to get involved, how to get academic support, mental health resources and how to prepare yourself for college. They also stressed the importance of staying on top of your grades, especially as juniors and seniors.
“I think [the presentations] went really well,” counselor Ashley Hallen said. “There were a lot of students, but I hope they learned a lot from it.”
Counselor Jonathan Sanny explained how the counselors spent weeks preparing and updating last year’s slides to keep the information relevant and concise for the new school year.
“We go over last year’s slides, make updates and figure out who’s covering which parts then we bring the energy when it’s time to present.” Sanny stated.
Counselor Trip Manley added that the planning that goes into the presentation is more than just the slides.
“It involves a lot of different departments because you have to have the facility set up.” Manley said. “There’s a lot that actually goes on that people don’t realize before a presentation.”

Although the counselors must present to a large group of kids and some rowdy groups, the counselors said that overall, they enjoyed presenting to all the kids there.
“Overall, I thought it went pretty solid. We made sure that we promoted everything about Tracy High and what we require to graduate.” Sanny said.
Moving forward, the counselors hope to follow content more closely with each grade. “Maybe next year we could change up some information so that it’s not so repetitive,” Manley said. “That way it’s a little more fun and relevant for each group.”
