On Friday, Sept. 19, the Bulldogs traveled 3 hours away to Chico to play the Pleasant Valley Vikings.
This field is where varsity Head Coach Jeff Pribble began his coaching career 23 years ago at 19 years old.
“I coached with four guys that are still over on that sideline, so this is like a little fun reunion for me,” Pribble stated. “I’m going to go wash this loss off and build some other memories with these guys.”
Jeno Lawhorn, a senior at Tracy High claims “teamwork.” Is what keeps him motivated during tough games like these ones. “We just keep on going and going,” he added.
The game began with a lead from the Vikings, ending the first quarter 0-7. During the second quarter Tracy scored 3 points from a successful field goal. Ending the first half of the game 3-7, Vikings in the lead.
“My defense was amazing tonight.” Pribble pointed out after the game.
Kane Stroup, a center lineman for Tracy High, explains the success of the defense.
“I thought that defensively, we handled business in the first half,” Stroup expressed “honestly, on offense just simple mistakes that killed our drive.”
During halftime the Vikings had their halftime show and homecoming performances. Tracy high managed to stay determined through all of this and continued to fight hard in the second half of the game.
“I think if we didn’t make any more mistakes, we could have pursued more and kept on going and it would have been a close game,” said Lawhorn.
The Bulldogs struggled through the third quarter, letting the Vikings hold the lead 21-3.
In the last quarter the Bulldogs scored 2 touchdowns resulting in the final score of 35-16.
“I felt like my football team stepped up and played a really passionate and heartfelt football game tonight.” Pribble concluded.
