On Monday, October 13th Tracy High hosted their annual powderpuff game to kick off the start of homecoming week. The junior and senior girls faced off in an intense game of flag football during stormy conditions while being cheered on by onlookers in the stands and a group of male cheerleaders. This game ended with the senior girls taking home the victory; winning by 19-6.

Near the beginning of the game, Isabella Gutierrez, number three on the senior team bolted through the rain across the field completely dodging the other team’s players and ultimately scoring the first touchdown of the game.
The senior girls kept up the good work up until half time, where the boy cheerleaders temporarily took the spotlight and performed their own version of a cheer routine, to which the announcers offered sassy commentary.
Once halftime ended, the girls got straight back to business. The senior girls were already putting up a solid performance, but what really solidified the win was the second touchdown by Gutierrez. Near the end of the fourth quarter, the juniors were one touchdown away from nearly tying with the seniors, but Gutierrez once again took charge and scored another touchdown, leaving the score at 19-6.
The senior girls shared their pride in the athletic performances in both themselves and their teammates and revealed their favorite parts of the game.
“I think when we scored the touchdown was my favorite part,” Worthington stated. “ it was so fun to celebrate and cheer on my teammates!”
Senior Aneria Lezine played a significant role in the game.
“The most fun part was when I pulled her flag!” Lezine shared pride in her performance.
Senior Dzidzi Djonorh enthusiastically celebrated the win.
“It was fun when we did that fake touchdown on them and kicked their butts!” Djonorh expressed.
During the span of the game, the temperature dropped to a low of 54 degrees whilst pouring rain non-stop. Despite this, the game continued on. Senior girls Danika Worthington and Dzidzi Djonorh emphasized the weather as one of the most challenging aspects of the game.

“The rain was probably the most challenging part, because it was really really cold.”
In spite of this inconvenience, Worthington remained enthusiastic.
Dzidzi Djonorh agreed when talking about the challenges of the game.
“The rain! The rain was challenging for sure.” Djonorh concluded.
