Boys’ varsity soccer season is coming to an end, but, the four senior members are still looking forward to their last playoff games.

The team currently has a league record of 5-2-2. They have secured either a second or third place finish in league.

“I am very pleased with this season so far because we are either going to finish second or third in league,” Kalis said. “Especially with a young team, we are playing our best soccer right now.”

Adolfo Inguanzo, a senior, also feels that this season is impressive.

“Last year our team thought that they were going to do pretty good, but I guess it was not meant to be,” Inguanzo said. “This year we are doing way better with a younger team and we are so close to making it to playoffs. I am pretty happy about that.”

The seniors are starting to realize that they will not play with each other after the season is over. Inguanzo is already feeling the emotion.

“Everyone came together in the beginning of the season,” Inguanzo said. “It is pretty sad that we are not going to play together as a team anymore.”

Cameron Divoky, a senior, is also sad that the season is coming towards an end, but he is looking on the bright side.

“It is sad that our season is coming towards an end,” Divoky said. “I am not really that upset because we still have play offs to look forward to.”

Inguanzo and Divoky have been a part of Tracy High soccer for the past four years. They have made many memories during those years. There were certain memories that stood out for both Inguanzo and Divoky.

“In a game last year I got a red card,” Inguanzo said. “I decided to run away from the referee, so I thought that was pretty funny.”

While Inguanzo’s favorite memory was funny, Divoky’s memory mostly had to do with the fundamentals of soccer.

“This year in our game against Franklin, I scored a goal,” Divoky said. “That made me feel so happy that I was helping out my team.”

Coach Kalis is losing four seniors this year: Divoky, Inguanzo, Jacob Gonzalez, and Cristian Ramos.

“It is always sad to see the seniors go,” Kalis said. “What made them special this year was their very strong work ethic.”

Inguanzo has been coached by Kalis and now has him as a math teacher this year. Inguanzo says that he will miss Kalis after his senior year is over.

“I am going to miss him being so serious about life and soccer,” Inguanzo said. “The good part is that I get to be in his Calculus class this year.”

Overall the teams’ record is 8-4-2. The first playoff game is on Nov. 5 with the opponent yet to be determined. The team will either end up in second place or third depending on the last league game against Bear Creek on Oct. 30 at their field.
