With the season ending, both varsity girls’ and boys’ water polo will be finishing 2-5  in league. Neither of the teams will be making it to the playoffs.

“Both teams did greater than I expected,” head coach Keith Britt said, “They have gotten a lot better. I’m starting to think I believe in them more than they do.”

Despite their practices and games during the week, all players have all kept their grades up.

“I’m very impressed.” Britt said.

The boys have key players on their team that helped them throughout the season. These players include Chaz Samaniego and Taylor Mellick.

“We did better than last year,” junior Taylor Mellick said. “but there is always room for improvement.”

Although they didn’t make the playoffs, the boys made many accomplishments.

“We improved a lot as the season went along,” senior Chaz Samaniego said. “Our offense has really improved.”

Both Samaniego and Mellick agreed that attitude was a big part of the game. If you come in with a negative attitude, you are going to play with that same attitude. That was their biggest weakness. Despite everything, both boys enjoyed the season and hopes to improve even more net season.

The girls that helped improve the team throughout the season include Dallyce Marglon and Samantha Williams. Both girls agree that their biggest accomplishment this season was really coming together as a team and communicating with one another.

“As the season went along, we really came closer as a team,” senior Samantha Williams said. “When the time came to be a team, we were able to do so.”

Both agreed that the thing to work on would be communication and teamwork. Friday will be Williams and Marglon’s last game.

“It’s depressing because this sport has been not just an extracurricular activity but part of my life.” Marglon said. “I have made a lot of friends throughout the years.”

The final varsity girls’ game is Friday, Nov 1, at 4:00 with the varsity boys’ following.
