Q + A: Assistant Principal Rashmi Ahuja

Education has always been a big part of Tracy High Assistant Principal Rashmi Ahuja’s life. She is working hard in hopes to become a principal or a policy maker for the California Department of Education. Besides that, her idea of a perfect day consists of being at the beach soaking up the sun, enjoying life.

What is your favorite movie? “It’s an Indian movie called ‘Taare Zameen Par’ which is about special kids and how they are equally intelligent. Attention was not given to them in the Indian education system and the story on what they go through touched me as an educator.”

What do you love most about your job? “When I see students graduate.”

What is the most difficult part of your job? “The frustration that happens when I have to give consequences to the repeat offenders.”

Do you have any hobbies? “Sleeping and playing computer games with my friends.”

What is the best trip took and why? “I went to Japan and Dubai which are two countries that I had never seen before.”

What place would you like to visit? “Switzerland, because I have heard it’s a very beautiful place.”

What is your favorite food and why? “Buttered chicken because I think it’s very tasty.”

What did you want to grow up to be when you were a kid? “A Bollywood actress, but my father put me into education and didn’t approve of me going into acting.”

If you weren’t doing what you were doing now, what would you be doing? “Sitting at the beach, but, hopefully, getting paid at the same time.”

What is your favorite day of the week? “Saturday and Sunday.”

What makes you happy? “When I can get paid without working.”

What are some things you want to experience in life? “I would love to go to a space station and feel the effects of no gravity.”

What super power would you want to have? “I would like to be able to fly away to different planets in the form of an alien.”
