“The legend of Hercules” falls flat
January 28, 2014
In this epic story The Legend of Hercules directed by Renny Harlin; Kellan Lutz stars as the mythical Greek hero Hercules – the son of Zeus, a half-god, half-man that has extraordinary strength.
Betrayed by his stepfather, the King, and exiled and sold Hercules into slavery because of a forbidden love, Hercules must use his powers to fight his way back to his rightful kingdom. Through horrifying battles and gladiator-arena death matches, Hercules embarks on a legendary odyssey to overthrow the king and restore peace to the land.
“The Legend of Hercules” was a major epic failure. Not only did this feature have low quality animation, but also ruined the mythical Greek story of Hercules. Animations appeared fake, the creatures that Lutz battled were low quality visually, and it was easy to see that they were fake and were not life-like. If bad animations weren’t enough, acting skills were lacking as well. Lutz seemed like he spent more time working on his muscles than on his acting.
Special effects also were horrible. When Lutz has to move two giant pieces of stone you can see the styrofoam they used. Landscaping was also off, the background footage was very fake looking.
At points Lutz’s seemed like he had forgotten his lines. If he spent more time on his acting, the film would have been more successful. His performance was very and unbelievable.
Though Lutz’s performance was off, other actors had made the film worth watching. Scott Adkins performance was remarkable. He had a believable performance of a heartless king. Adkins plays the role of King Amphitryon, Hercules’s stepfather; he is a heartless and cold hearted man who wants Hercules dead for his forbidden love.
This film was released on Jan. 10 and office box sales were at $8.6 million. I recommend you skip this film. It is not believeable and will bore you with its poor acting and special effects. Everyone knows Lutz from his film “Twilight.” He should stick to acting as a sparkly vampire.
