Super Bowl XLVIII a Raider fan’s dream
February 13, 2014
This year’s Super Bowl was Raider fan’s dream.
As an Oakland Raider fan, I am obligated to be against the 49ers in anything they do and also anyone in the AFC West division. This year’s Super Bowl was the perfect example of this; I wanted the Seahawks to win because they beat the Niners in the NFC Championship game and they are in the NFC West division together and I didn’t want the Broncos to win because they are in the AFC.
A Super Bowl in which a team is shutout in the first half and only scores eight points in the whole entire game rarely happens. It also rarely happens when the other team puts up 43 points causing the margin of victory to be huge.
Blowouts barely happen in the regular season, let alone the Super Bowl. It is supposed to be the best two teams in the NFL matched up to have an all-out war, being decided in the fourth quarter with a game winning drive or game ending blunder by either quarterback.
You know what they say, “Offense wins games, but defense wins championships.” That is exactly what happened in this year’s Super Bowl. The Seattle Seahawks had the number one rated defense, while the Denver Broncos had the number one rated offense. The media hyped up the game so much based on this fact.
Peyton Manning, Denver’s quarterback, has always had trouble in the playoffs. He has only captured a Super Bowl title once in his career with the Indianapolis Colts. This season was supposed to different. He set NFL records for most touchdowns thrown and had the most players with 10 or more touchdowns, one of the best offenses in league history. He even won this year’s MVP award.
Games never go how you plan them to. On the first play of the game, the Broncos had a botched snap resulting in a safety. It was the fastest score in Super Bowl history. After this horrible start, nothing was the same.
Manning ended up with one touchdown pass, two interceptions, one interception ended up being returned for a touchdown, and just an overall bad game.
