Demi Lovato rocks the stage on her Neon Lights Tour in San Jose
February 17, 2014
Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights Tour concert with opening acts Fifth Harmony and Little Mix occurred on Feb. 11 at the SAP Center in San Jose was amazing and filled with spectacular lights taking girl empowerment to a whole other level.
“Heart Attack” the hit single from her recent album “Demi” was an amazing concert opener. It was nice that she opened up with that song to get the crowd going.
Lovato is known for her powerful vocals, and she definitely showcased her vocals at that concert with her songs when she preformed songs like “Got Dynamite,” “Two Pieces,” and “Neon Lights.”
Her more emotional performances were definitely my favorites like when she sang “Warrior” and “Nightingale.” Lovato has been through difficulties in her life including self harm and anorexia which she revealed some details in her song “Warrior.” Knowing the stories behind these songs and seeing her perform them live the atmosphere got really emotional knowing how much she has gone through.
Being a Demi Lovato fan since childhood, seeing what she has grown up to be is truly inspirational. For example, after her performance of “Don’t Forget” a montage video was played showing her throughout the years. It included clips of her first music video, “Camp Rock” performances, and the recent music video of “Neon Lights.” Seeing this transformation almost got me teary eyed. Her growth throughout the years and knowing that I grew up watching these music videos and movies was amazing.
Her performance of “Neon Lights” was incredible. The stage was lit up with crazy lights and colors. The audience was asked to open up the Demi Lovato App and raise their phones up in the air. While she would sing, the phones would light up to different colors that would go with the beat. It was really cool seeing the whole stadium jumping up and down with all the crazy colors.
The two opening acts Fifth Harmony and Little Mix did well warming up the crowd before Lovato took the stage. Being a big fan of both of these groups, watching them perform their songs live was unreal. Their vocals were amazing and there was barely a difference between the studio version from the live performance. The choreography accompanying the songs was fun and all their vocals blended so well. Both groups even did covers of Destiny’s Child songs like “Independent Woman,” which was a fun to sing along to old song throwbacks.
Overall, the concert was an amazing experience. I loved all the acts and seeing them preform live seemed was unbelievable. The stage presence of these acts were fun and entertaining If anyone is a fan of Lovato or enjoys girl empowerment groups, I would recommend seeing Demi Lovato or any of these other acts live.
