Imagine Dragons rocked the night at the SAP Center
February 20, 2014
Alternative-rock band, Imagine Dragons rocked the Into The Night Tour concert. This concert was on Feb. 13 at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA. Almost every single seat was filled with an enthusiastic audience of all ages. The band, The Naked and Famous, opened up for them and brought the spirits of the crowd up.
This Las Vegas band has been around since 2008, but really became popular last year. Their main hits that you might have hear of is “It’s Time”, “Radioactive”, and “Demons”. I just got into this band last year and wanted to go see them live.
Imagine Dragons came onto the stage while it was dark in the SAP Center. It was really exhilarating waiting for them to sing their first song. When they finally came out onto the stage, there was a major uproar.
The use of drums in the concert caught everyone’s attention that made the concert more interesting. This band is known for using percussions in its performances, especially after their raging performance on the Grammys singing “Radioactive”. What makes this band unique is that every member in the band knows how to play the drums. I was expecting a good show from the beginning, and I got a fantastic show that my money was worth.
Imagine Dragons played about 15 songs, including one encore at the end of the concert. My favorite songs had to be “Amsterdam”, “It’s Time”, “Demons”, “Radioactive”, and their cover of “Tom Sawyer” by Rush.
During the song, “Demons”, the audience contributed to the performance by lighting up their cell phones in the dark arena. It was a special moment in the concert and it changed my mood in way where I was not thinking about anything. What I mean is that it made me forget about any troubles I had in my life.
Another memorable moment was when the band performed “Tom Sawyer.” Almost every adult knew that song and was singing along to the lyrics. A dad sitting right next to me got so excited about this performance that he took his phone out of his pocket, taking a video on his phone, and mouthing out to the lyrics of this song.
I have been to many concerts, and I always stood in the general admission section, which is right in front of the stage. For this concert, I was sitting in the seats way up high. I wish that I got to experience the concert a little bit closer in front. Other than that, the concert was still amazing.
The Naked and Famous, an indie-rock band, was a great opening act. Alisa Xayalith, the lead singer, had an amazing voice, where it gave me the chills. Even the guitarist, Thom Powers, got to show off his voice in front of the audience. Unfortunately, most of their songs sounded the same.
I did recognize one song that I have heard over the radio called, “Young Blood”, and that performance was my favorite from them. This band was a great opener for Imagine Dragons.
I really wanted Imagine Dragons to play “Look How Far We’ve Come”, but they cannot play every song on their album. This concert I would give a nine out of ten because they did an excellent job on their performances. I was into every single song that Imagine Dragons played because the songs were all diverse in their own way. The only thing I did not like about the concert was that it was very short.
