This is my high school career: Rana Khan

High school was not the fun that I thought it was going to be. If I’m being completely honest my high school experience was pretty terrible. It was filled with stress, worry, and pressure. I would never go back to high school if I had the choice.
Freshman year wasn’t too bad for me. It was actually pretty fun. My classes were easy, and I had lunch with a lot of my friends. However, if I could go back in time and give my freshman self some advice it would be not to stress myself out academically. Although academics are important, having time to yourself for relaxation is even more important.
My sophomore year was torture. It was filled with hard Pre-IB classes which ended up being of no use to me. My advice to all freshman is that they choose their classes wisely and keep their futures in mind when choosing. Do not just choose a class because it looks good on a college application, but also don’t choose a class because it’s easy.
Junior year is the most important year of high school because colleges highly focus on that year when admitting you. This put the pressure on during junior year, and I could not enjoy it at all. The only bright side of junior year was my United States History class taught by Darren Haydock. It was a fun and exciting class that taught me a lot. It was probably my favorite class in high school.
Senior year is supposed to be the most fun year of your high school life. However, no one ever tells you about the stress of college. My senior year was solely dedicated to applying to colleges, the stress of waiting to see which one you get accepted into, and then finally deciding on which college you actually want attend. You cannot truly enjoy your senior year until the last month of school; however, even then you are constantly worrying about your future.
What I learned from high school is that life is hard and it is probably going to get harder. Although this sounds pretty depressing I think it’s something important because it gives you a realistic view on life. Life’s not easy and you are going to struggle. Get through high school and work hard, so you can go to college and have a better life.
