With a challenging new league to play against, the team is working hard and preparing for the upcoming league matches.

“They are doing really well. Even though this is my first year here, I’m very happy with how they are doing,” Coach Bo de Lange said. “They are working hard and they have come a long way. We have a very strong league, we are doing really well and everyone is improving. The games outside of league, the team has done exceptionally well,” Lange said. “Right now we are just trying to work on the fundamentals that I feel they are lacking, trying to build off that and take every step possible towards getting better and improving.”

“The competition is very tough. St. Mary’s, Lodi, Tokay, and Lincoln are all good teams, so it will be hard. We have a good chance of beating Tokay and Lincoln, but St. Mary’s and Lodi are going to be harder schools to beat,” junior Kor Hurst said. “I think I am playing pretty well, but we just started playing league games, so there’s still more time to improve. I need to work on shooting and awareness in the pool. Practice is definitely going to help my shot, but my awareness will get better as I play with the team more.”

“This year’s competition is very hard and defiantly a big step up from the previous years,” junior Jordan Knapp said. “I think I am playing very well, a lot better than I have been the past two years. I definitely need to work on getting more open and making better passes when I am under pressure. I’ll improve through practice and just experiencing it during the games.”

“The competition is pretty much the same as last year, but it’s going to be a little harder,” senior Scott Jessee said. “I think I am playing okay, I would like to get better with my left hand.”

“Our league record is 0-2 and the varsity boys have a tournament at West High the first weekend of October.” Lange said.
