A successful season of golf came to an end, but the girls enjoyed the year and the relationships that they developed.

“It’s a little bittersweet,” senior Bailey Whitlock said. “I’m excited to have more time after school to do things besides golf, but knowing that this was the last time I’ll ever play with these girls makes me sad.”

The relationships the players have with each other will continue throughout their high school careers.

“My favorite part of the season would probably be the van rides home after matches,” sophomore Simran Grewal said. “We always stop for food, and it’s always fun to bond and spend time with the girls on and off the golf course.”

“The girls were definitely able to unite as a team,” Whitlock said. “We have such a great group of girls who work really well together.”

“There is never any drama, and I know that I can always go to the girls, both younger and older than me, if I ever need anything,” Grewal said.

“As a group, the girls were very cooperative and supportive of each other.  It is great to see that as their coach,” Coach Derek Solano said.

Golf is something the girls will continue to carry with them.

“I am planning to play golf throughout my high school years,” Grewal said. “Next year, I’m looking forward to improving my scores and hopefully making it to divisionals.”

“I am definitely going to continue golf all throughout high school,” sophomore Paris Mousalimas said. “I look forward to forming relationships with the new freshmen and improving my game.”

“Because I’m a senior, I won’t get to participate next season, but I think I will still keep playing golf, just for fun and to see if I can improve,” Whitlock said.

The girls were faced with a few challenges throughout the season.

“My biggest challenge the season was probably working on changing my swing to improve my game,” Grewal said. “It is always hard to change a habit once you’ve gotten used to it, but I always try to attempt new techniques to hopefully make my game better.”

“My biggest challenge of the season was dealing with the bad shots and bad days,” Whitlock said. “Not every day can be a good day for golf. Since golf is such a mental sport, it’s important to keep your spirits up and not let one bad match get you down.”

The last tournament the girls played in was the league tournament.

“Our team did fairly well and two of our players, seniors Hunter Andrade and Kylie Takata, made it to divisionals,” Grewal said.

Overall, the season went well and Tracy placed fourth in league.  The practices and games allowed the girls to progress a lot in their game.

“I feel that I majorly improved this season,” Mousalimas said. “I could see even during practices how much better I was doing and this was proven during matches.”

“Throughout the season I felt like my game improved, as well as my relationships with the girls and the coach,” Whitlock said. “I could not have asked for a better season.”

“The girls have each progressed vastly in their own ways and I love seeing a girl that I have coached for years get better and more consistent in their game,” Solano said.
