October 29, 2015
The Tracy High volleyball team has ended its regular season on a high note heading into the playoffs, coming off a seven-game winning streak.
The team started the month with a couple losses to Lincoln High and St. Mary’s high. Both games were away and put Tracy in third place behind the two. Tracy then played both teams again later in the month and captured win at home.
With the regular season over, Tracy finished second in league with a 8-2 record behind Lincoln who finished 9-1. Lincolns only loss came from Tracy. The top three teams from league make it into the playoffs. St. Mary’s finished third with a 7-3 record.
Coach Mahina McCamey has been very pleased with the team’s performance.
“Our girls are driven and determined to finish out the second round of league undefeated,” Coach McCamey said.
“This is one of our strongest teams I’ve been on, so to finish strong is a must,” senior Grace Murphy said.
Coming off a seven-game winning streak the Bulldogs hope to get a high seeding in playoffs and compete well against other teams.
“If we strive to be more competitive and more aggressive offensively, and perfect our defense, then we should do very well in playoffs,” Murphy said.
“We have been working hard in practice running more advanced plays to be able to compete against higher level opponents,” junior Ella Ditzenberger said.
The Bulldogs have much improved since the start of the month. There has been great play from the whole team, especially senior Grace Murphy who has made a strong case for player of the year.
Tracy won its last match in three games at West High on Oct. 28. The playoff schedule will be released as soon as the season ends.
