First-time attendees have fun at Girls’ Treat
December 4, 2015
Tracy High’s Girls’ Treat dance on Nov. 21, was a hit. Some students have attended the dance before, but for others it was a first. First-time attendees looked forward to making the best out of their first formal dance experience.
sophomore Joshua Marquez said.
The dance started at 9 p.m. and ended at 12 a.m., so this allowed enough time for students to go out to dinner and be at the school by the time the dance started. Students either made reservations at restaurants or rented limos/party buses to take them out of town. The places most visited included San Francisco and Santa Cruz.
“My favorite part of the night was the limo we went in,” freshman Morgan Gant said. “I looked forward to having a good time and enjoying the rest of the night with my friends.”
Getting all dressed up is the main part of attending a formal dance. Girls go all out and wear fancy dresses, while boys wear suits or tuxedos.
“I loved getting my makeup done, and I was so happy because I finally got to wear my new dress,” senior Vanessa Lopez said.
Formal events are not only memorable for the students but for the parents as well. Parents take pictures of their children before watching them go to their first formal dance.
“My girlfriend was looking forward to taking a billion pictures on Girls’ Treat,” senior Mason Stevenson said. “All of our photos turned out great, and I actually ended up having a really fun night.”
There was a photo booth set up at the dance for students to take pictures. Snacks were available such as brownies, cookies, and candy. The masquerade theme was great for a large turn out and the cafeteria was completely transformed.
“I did not get a chance to go in the photo booth,” junior Hannah Presley said, “but the food was good, so that was something that I did enjoy.”
“The highlight of my night was the dance,” junior Ella Ditzenberger said, “but it was fun meeting up with my group and taking pictures.”
“I do plan on going to Girls’ Treat again throughout high school,” Gant said. “My first one was certainly a night to remember.”
