“The Ride  Along 2” is the perfect mixture of action sequences and comedic exchanges between characters, making anyone who watches gasp and laugh with delight.

The movie introduces main characters Ben Barber (Kevin Hart), a newly engaged lawman, and James Payton (Ice Cube), the top police officer that just so happens to be the brother of Barber’s new fiancé.

The main focus of the film is to get the audience to laugh at their characters for a second time in this very entertaining sequel. The film gives the audience a sense of familiarity as they get to see the same characters deal with a very undercover, covert operation in the most entertaining and hilarious way possible. This film revives the relationships the characters had with each other and the relationship the audience already built with the characters in the film.

The situations the main characters get themselves in to throughout the movie are so random and unheard of that it creates an interesting and unbelievable settings. The way the main characters handle the random situations are comical and make the audience laugh outloud.

In this newly updated sequel, Payton reluctantly brings his soon to be brother-in-law, Barber, down to Miami to help him on one last mission to bust a drug dealer who has been supplying Atlanta with product.  Throughout the film, Barber tries to prove his worth to Payton, hoping to show that he has what it takes to not only be a good police officer, but also show that he is more than capable to take care of Payton’s sister once they are married.

Many fans of the first hit movie “The Ride Along” were a little let down by this sequel, claiming that the original was a better movie.

Though some fans were disappointed with this film because it was not as good as the original, it brought back the loyal fans of the first movie and gave them a satisfying ending to the storyline. It also created new fans and brought more attention to the first movie as well, bringing both movies back into the cinematic spotlight.

Being a huge fan of the first movie, I am still satisfied with this movie’s story line and plot. It made me laugh and completed its purpose of entertaining the viewer.
